I have been wondering why are Griffs always faster for a long time.
Is it its more dynamic look that provokes faster drivers and driving?

I think I found out! idea

The Griff is by far lighter than the heavy bottomed Chimp.

This should help now keeping away those Chimaera trolls telling us that
Chimaera and Griff are the same anyway and Chimaera is better
and such rubish. wink

Considering that the Griff is shorter and slim of shape, what saves
weight (and we know it is all about weight),
it must be a lot faster helped by the streamlined shape alone.

Weight: (by Classic&Sportscar Dec. 2009)
Griff 4.0 1.045 kg
Griff 500 1.075 kg
Chimaera 450 1.154 kg (!) loser

Long live the Griff! clap

You should have posted this in the Chimp section, I am sure they would have a favourable reaction. hehe

So the Griff is the same weight as the Tamora give or take. I always assumed it was heavier because of the engine.

That extra junk in the trunk aids traction.
This is why Chims are always faster at the dragstrip tongue out

The added weight of the average Griff driver (and their medallions) more than cancels out
the difference biggrin

Ah, I was wondering about that tidbit back when the magazine was out. Of course, it's bks.

For the record: Chim 430 with 40% of a tankful, extensive toolkit and subwoofer/amp: 1043.5 kg (Intrax' corner weight scales). Less now. hehe

Ah very good, but as the above picture shows, the normal driver and passenger of the little Sister Chimaera, is well, neat, trim and in good health.

Were as the normal Griff driver carrying Gold Chains and Chest hair with added weight etc puts a Griffith up to a Burger busting 1500KGS if not 1800KGS due to overweight Griff Driver.

So being faster on paper is well, blown away as added Griff Driver weight slows you lot down LOL

Well all in good sport after all

You probably stashed an anchor in the boot before you left Portsmouth Derek!

Colin,

why do you know? biglaugh
You are absolutely right.

Only recently I had to carry next to all the Gold Chains, Medaillons and Chest Wigs also around 100 bottles of fine Red on our way home from South France.
And I am an overweight Griff Driver loving Burgers, too. burgerburger
So I have to admit: Not really far from 1800KGS.

But please tell me,
why am I still faster than any Chim coming along????? confused

....especially downhill thumbup

Interesting. Keep us posted on this site. Perhaps, do some slowish practice times to do a Hamilton from the back. Keep clear of any dog fighting, you should not need to get involved. Hope start is clean also. Fast and safe. A good bench mark comparison for "slow little Griff"!

Ooooo you bad Griff boys, always having a go at us poor little Chimp owners

we may carry a bit more weight but we make up for it with our personalities. I've been watching the posts over the past few months always saying Chimps are slow, and Griffs are fast... and one is better than the other. I just don't get it. Mind you, is it true you Griff boys all have hairy chests!.. I must come along to your meeting one day.

Me and my little Pink Chimpy go everywhere together. it's just the best car out there for us

What with all that power in the rear end, its just the best

Sorry Bubbles Chimp,

no insult against you intended. beer

But the bad Chim girls are coming over to telling us
how bad our Griffs are all the time.

Records had to be put straight.

And yes, we all have hairy chests,
our ladies likewise. hehe
