Rusty wing stays
Discussion
Hmm. My Supersprint has clamshells and the front wingstays are a bit crusty. I had a brief telephone conversation with CC parts today which was a bit depressing, basically "hmm they're out of stock, we haven't sold one for seven years, it'll be a special order only and not at the price you can see on the website" the unspoken inference being "try everywhere else you can before us"!!
Does anyone have any bright ideas? And don't say "Cycle wings...", it ain't gonna happen!
I'm thinking there's a blacksmith near me who makes everything from hinges to spiral staircases, how long would it take him to bend some square tube and weld it on to the remaining intact section? Only trouble is there might not be much of a pattern to follow once I take the current ones off...

Any ideas? Anyone got a pair lying around??!!!

Try www.redlinecomponents.co.uk well known in Caterham community for parts for the olders 7s.
Thanks for all the help guys - Sam at the club has my membership app so in a few days I'll be all over blatchat probably, and Bruce at Arch has come through on the wingstays, he left a message on my phone today (while I was enduring 6 hrs of a Compliance seminar) so another cheque goes in the post!
To celebrate I shall be forced to commute to the office in the seven tomorrow (assuming the forecast stays the same!)
Thanks again.
Patrick
