Looking for a donor car for a project later in the year and thought id look at some prices to calculate costs.
Came across this add which has the stage 3 kit on it (im sure its supposed to produce more horse than that) which would save me some money anyways. So as i scrolled down to read about it 0-60 was 4 seconds!!!
Heres the ad URL: http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=2...

Alt URL: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/2003-SEAT-LEON-CUPRA-R-Y... (sorry using phone)
So whats the situation? How much of that is true? (Might be worth a bid if it is!)
Cheers.

No, it's bullst.

A Focus RS with 300bhp and a clever diff can't get close to that.

I very much doubt it being a FWD car, with standard 0-60 being 6.9 seconds.

Couldn't see it doing much than just below 6 seconds, depending on surface/traction.

He seems VERY confident about it? What about the bhp? That seems a little underated for a stage 3 does it not?

I'd imagine mid to high 5's - especially as you have to grab 3rd for 62 in the LCR (regardless of what the speedo says).

I may have misunderstood the grammar, but it seems to indicate you can see that performance on a dyno plot.

i.e. the wheels accelerated from 0-60 in 4 seconds. I'm sure it did. However, that wouldn't translate well onto a regular road...

Not in a million years will that car do that, and don't be fooled because it's 'stage 3' each company classes different things in different stages. It's nothing more than marketing crap. Love the amazing flush fit of the tailpipe to the bumper though hehe

So the only meaningful performance enchancement is a remap.

"I'z got pure mad tuning skillz, innit".

There seems to be some irony at work here in that it's lemon coloured.

More likely to be around 0-60 in 6 secs IMO.

Perhaps he's measured it somehow using a tool that's in km/h and he's not realised. 4 seconds to 60km/h (or about 37mph in our money) doesn't sound excessive for a car that'll hit 60mph in 6 seconds.

I would have said no from your post but clicked on the link. It's written in ALL CAPS so it could well be true.

Idiots frequently are, that doesn't make them any less deluded though.

Anyone with a car that will do 0-60 in around 4 seconds will know that traction is a major problem!

You need some clever stuff to get a front wheel drive below 5 seconds, LSD or a very well set up traction control, super sticky rubber, elephant on the bonnet for the first 100 yards.

So no I don't think it will sorry.

OP is this for your buggy? If you just want the engine and box, you're probably better sourcing them alone rather than buying and breaking the car as I'm sure you said in that thread that the kit came with all the bits other than the engine. I'd still look at the Volvo T4 engine and box too as they're cheaper and can give good power too.
