Too young for an XF?
Discussion
guys, i am now looking to change from a lease audi a6 sline company car to buying a second hand sports saloon due to company car tax. i don't want to spend much more than 16k and there is a couple of really nice 4.2 xf's but my wife says im too young (42!) for a jag!! these cars look great for the money but am i being fooled by the price??
apologies if this has been asked before but ive looked all through the threads and cant seem to find any real answers as to how much these things are to run, any issues when buying a 4/5 yr old one etc. i would really appreciate some comments, my co car goes back in 8 weeks,

Diesel = Pipe 'n slippers

I assume your looking at SV8's ??? the 4.2 supercharged model.
I looked at these before finally stumping for an XFR, firstly they are quite thirsty, high teens great cars with some nice options - B&W stereo is a must as it sounds great. Worth getting a jaguar warranty which unlike BMW / mercedes / Audi you can put on any car (even with original warranty expired) < 6years / 100k i think as long as it gets inspected at the dealer at the time of taking the warranty out - it costs around £900 per year but money well spent as bills can be HUGE !
Good luck
Dont listen to her indoors, theyre great cars and certainly dont sound like an old mans car ! more like the devil

thank you guys, ill continue to look at them and see if i can take the plunge. probably a little reticent to take the plunge after years of not having to worry about who pays the bills when something goes wrong. but equally i don't want to settle for another company car. ill keep you posted
if your concerned over the petrol consumption then the XFR/SV8 is not for you, go for a diesel. If your seriously looking to get one then the 18mpg will be what you need to live with. Cracking cars that sound sooooo good.
Be prepared to have some visits to the dealers, they are jaguars after all and renowned for having some foibles

I am certain that it is impossible hop between villages on british back roads in a supercharged Jag with better than 12mpg. If you can get better than that, then you are not trying hard enough!
