Im currently in singapore, and over the last few weeks ive been travelling about and noticing a few things on the roads,
in singpaore every car bar taxis are petrol, which means lots of lovely petrol bmws and audis moving about and sounding brilliant. which for one i love
theres no laws on undertaking on the motorway, anyone passes in any line which works really well, and everyone has their fog lights on and no one dies or crashes which sorta proves something.
one scary thing is the low level of driving standards in indonisia, one taxi driver pulled out to overtake without changing gear, and everyone drives in the middle of the road.
finnaly i was surprised with how crap new cars where there, the airport taxi we took was a new Chevrolet of somesort and it felt like being in a 20 year old micra, it was horrid.
where have you been with surprising road habbits?

Not much surprises me in terms of driving these days having explored a lot of the world. I think standards can be quite easily grouped - Western more economically developed countries tend to on the whole have more regimented and less hectic/ chaotic driving (USA, Canada, UK, Western Europe etc), certain eastern European countries (Croatia, Serbia, Montenegro) are transitional and have a certain degree of dodgy driving but better than African, Arabic and Asian countries which in my experience tend to have the highest incidence of bad driving (things you described such as crazy lane changing etc).
Thing I liked about living in Singapore was seeing all the modified cars - made me nostalgic to an extent for the diversity the Max Power brigade brought to the UK's motorscape in the late 90's before they went ott with the fart can exhausts.
