Brands hatch - for complete newbs
Discussion
So I have yet to do a single proper track day event, only had some tuition on a praivate track with no other cars to contend with or any flags to adhere to.
I live close to Brands Hatch and will be getting a track car one of these days. Say I sorted the car and prepped it and drove to the circuit. What can I expect then?
Please tell me even the most obvious things. I am completely oblivious to the ethics and what to expect on an open day.

Drive to yourself, it's easy to get excited and try chaseing people etc. I found after around 20/30mins i'd get a little confident / tired and lose my lines slightly so frequent stops are good.
Keep an eye on the car, tyres, brake pads, fluids. Keep an eye open when you can, on straights etc for example see how far back a car is, work out how long till they catch you, and think of a safe place you can let them pass.
I have never been to Brands myself but recently did the Snetterton club msv u25s and had a fantastic day, build up your pace gradually over the sessions and you will find your / the cars limits

I love Brands and have always found the MSV days to be well run & driving standards are generally pretty high. Obviously be a relatively short circuit, it can get quite busy, but keep an eye on your mirrors for quicker cars and you'll be fine. As has been said already, frequent breaks will make things easier on you and your car. Also remember to empty all the junk out, spare wheel, jack etc. Check the fluids and tyre pressures and off you go. Just take it easy and let your speed build, as your confidence grows. Just have fun fella.
