My off side radiator fan has stopped working
It goes in Monday for a clean out but obviously may need a new fan, my plan is to order one from web and return if not needed to prevent the bumper having to be removed twice
Design911 list a left and right radiator fan at £233
Porscheshop have a "radiator fan motor" at £195 but does not mention a left or right hand version
anyone know the situation with these

Mine stopped earlier this year - a bit of a shock as the other side compensates for it by running very loudly at high speed.
Before you get the bumper taken off you can check the fan by removing the wheel arch inner liner (remove the front wheel first) and spinning the fan by hand. Sometimes a bit of gravel can jam it and just doing this will allow it to work again. Before I put the liner back on I checked, firstly with a 12v power source, and secondly by running the car up to temp that it was working.
All good since.

Same happened to me, but no warranty. The control unit is a lot cheaper than a fan too. You can get to the fans and control unit by removing the wheel arch liners. If you pull the plug on the fan, you can put 12v on the fan motor to test it. The control unit is on the right hand side, and easy enough to replace. It was about £100 iirc. khushy

New to this and Just purchased by first Porsche about a month ago.
I have a Cayman S on the 56 plate and the other day I noticed one fan blasting hot air out while the driver side was not running, after reading this tread and many others I decide to get the vacuum cleaner out and cleaned the fan/radiator assembly area, this was full of leaves and other debris. I found that the driver side fan was stuck and found a small piece of stone between the blades and the case, cleared this and now both fans run.
When I took my car for a Major service about 3 weeks ago, Porsche OPC advised that one fan was faulty and will need replacing, however as they don't have any in stock and its winter I can put this off until it starts to get warmer, the car will be fine on a single fan, they said. I can't understand why when they service the car they don't clean the radiator assembly as part of the service.

When I have my cars serviced I ask the tech to blow the trash out of the radiator ducts, and he does.New to this and Just purchased by first Porsche about a month ago.

I used to clean my cars' radiator ducts, even going so far to remove the bumper cover, but more recently just haven't had the time. What I did was when I took each car in for some service I asked the bumper cover be removed and this area cleaned out. Cost me IIRC not even an hour's labor. The tech can have the bumper cover off in just a few minutes and back on again in the same amount of time.
Then every time I take the car in I ask the ducts be cleaned, blown out with shop air. If the tech believes the build up requires another bumper cover removal he has my permission. So far, since the initial bumper cover removal for cleaning the bumper cover has not needed to be removed again.
Just yesterday got my first Porsche and it's a 2007 Caymen 2.7. I too had one radiator fan blasting away while the other was not working. After reading about how they can get jammed with stones I began to feel around. Under each radiator position under the car is an opening where you can get your hand in and you can spin the fan blades by hand. I found that the nearside was jammed and with a bit of forceful manual rotation I freed it off and a stone fell out. Thank you so much for this forum It's now my number 1 go to tool in the chest.
