Have owned the car 3 months.

HWM dd a service on the car 2 weeks ago and I had a new warranty put on the car.

I removed the sat hav disc today , to try one of the European discs and then put the disc back in again.

20 minutes later all hell breaks loose !

Roof mechanism won't work
Indicators won't work
Sat nav won't work
Scroll of error messages on the dash
Drivers window works, passenger window only goes up about 10 centimetres - and only intermittently ( when the error messages stop on dash for a few seconds).
Electrics all over the place basically.

So will call Aston Martin Emergency Assistance in the morning.

Guessing it's the ECU ?

Cheers for the heads up... Note to diary,, leave sat nav disc well alone.. wink

Sure it will be an easy fix for the men in white overalls and computers... wouldnt worry too much.

20 minutes, accessories powered, maybe low battery to start with?

Will the car start?

See my topic from a couple of weeks back - http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

Sounds like a similar issue - in the roadster you have to operate the roof to get to the satnav disks, so it could be the convertible roof module ... see the info the dealer gave me below:

RIB27 said:
It turns out that the "Convertible Roof Control Module" is part of the CAN Bus system in the car - (apparently there are two "networks", one high speed for safety features, and one low speed for noncritical stuff like door locks, windows and radio etc). When a module fails (like the convertible roof control module) it spits out loads of erroneous data into the network causing it to crash all the other stuff - hence the dash/windows/dials/radio etc going nuts.

Car is back! It was indeed the Roof Control Module. Apparently it's a fairly common issue. All covered under the extended warranty and a nice quick change for the dealer.

Apparently if anyone gets stuck with this problem you can unplug the module and the car will work fine without it (except the roof of course), I'm not sure where it's located though. I wonder if pulling the fuse F10 (Convertible Roof module) in the boot would solve the issue for anybody who encounters it in the future?

Yep the car starts ok.

Thanks,
Nick

Oh and the F10 fuse is in he fuse box on left hand side of boot , pulled the fuse and replaced it again - it made no difference.

Car is now at HWM and it's been confirmed as the convertible roof module.
Approx 2-3 hours work to replace and will be done under the warranty.

There seems to be a lot of roof modules going? Life expectancy less than 5 years?

Ugh. Better start preparing myself for the worst!

Is this covered under extended warranty?

Good news smile

I am sure I read somewhere the part wasn't all that expensive? But that was a post from Rick a while back now.

Part is £460 plus VAT , so £550.

That just about covers the cost of the warranty then?

Yes , so warranty is well worth having in this case, although i ran a 55 plate Vantage Coupe for 15 months before buying the Roadster and had no issues with the car which would have required warranty work.

Well, unlocked car this morning , started up and mirrors unfolded , then drove to the office, parked and locked up - mirrors didn't fold as they should.

Was in a rush so thought I'd just check it out again later.

Stuck in the office till after 7pm, started car up, then ignition off, locked car again , mirrors still not moving - coud hear some noise from the motor.

Started up again, thought I'd drove home with the roof down - roof not playing ball either !

Car was stationary at the time.

I get an error on the display with the amber warning triangle : To Open Roof Stop

Guess i will be calling HWM in the morning then.....
