I could use a Front & Rear set of these. Any recommendations that are an easy DIY fit?

eBay. Less than a tenner each delivered for TRS ones.

Thanks guys. St Anger - why do you think it came off? Any recommendation to do differently vs fitting instructions?

I don't think St Anger's experience is typical of those with TRS tow straps and is likely more to do with how tight they'd been done up to begin with than anything to do with the strap. Just use one of the bolts you remove from the baby teeth and make sure you're putting adequate torque on it.

I bought mine from this seller, a few pence cheaper than the other link but they were delivered pretty quickly from memory.

I don't think I would've done anything different to be honest, I removed one of the tie down hooks and used one of the old bolts with a new washer in the furthest away hole - I torqued the bolt as much as I could in the limited space available.

A word of caution (since you're planning on tracking the car) - those two "baby teeth" were only designed to help strap the car down during the shipping process and apparently never intended for towing the weight of the car, I'm prepared to stand corrected by anyone who knows otherwise, but if it was my car I'd be looking at attaching it elsewhere!

I had my mk2.5 towed by the baby tooth by an RAC van, only a couple of miles but it stood up to it ok.

I'm not sure where else you would tow from on the front of the car?

They are absolutely fine. The car shouldn't be towed far with them but for dragging the car out of a ditch/bush/gravel trap or pulling it onto a flat-bed they are fine.

So I guess my follow-up question is-

Where is the official towing point on an unmodified mx5? For typical AA/RAC recovery by towing...

They shouldn't be towed on their own wheels. Should be towed with front off the ground and dolly wheels on the rear or put on a flat bed.
