installing the door on a canam

When you bolt the doors to the hinges does the square metal plate go inside the door or outside?

The way I have it now is the hinge sits right against the outside of the door on the inside I have the metal plate then washers, then nuts. Is this right?

Do make sure the plate is sitting flat (or as flat as it can be on the rough side of GF).
On my GTR the plate on one side was hard against the door side and was sitting on the radius in the corner. This will stress the panel and could cause star cracks.

I've got my plate on the outside of the door.
Seemed logical at the time, after all, the weight of the door rests on it.

I though of that but then though the back made more sense because the plate would help keep it from ripping out of the fiberglass. I would actually like to have one on each side.

When it comes to running the wires for the mirrors how are you doing it?

The build manual has pics and dimensions of where the holes are in the pod and door. They are not in line.

I just looked through my manual and couldn't find anything on how to run the wires for the power mirrors through the door. Can anyone scan and post the page or fax it to me. Maybe I have an old manual.

You will need to drill hole in door. I seam to remember there could be a picture on CD although no detail. If problem I could e-mail picture if it would help.

And there is a diagram.
There is a new CD out, why don't you ask Ted for one.

I found the pictures on the cd, no diagram but I should be fine with the pictures.

I just found out that the factory included a plate to reinforce the door hinge junction...thanks Allan. After lookinig at this the method that I'm going to use to fix it to the door will be with large flange head rivets on the outer surface (3 or 4) and the plate on the inside of the door.

Why do you feel the need to attach the plate to the door. The door skin is trapped between the hinge body and the plate on the inside by the hinge studs and nuts. You could mastic bond the plate to the inside but IMHO using rivets would just serve to weaken the door skin.
