brake advice needed asap

Does anyone know the disc/pad set-up/size for a 92 4.0 Griff and if a set of 96 spec disc/pads will fit?
need to get mine sorted asap

No - I think the discs are smaller front and back on the precats compared to the 500 ones. They're only ford bits anyway, so genuine discs and pads should be fairly cheap.

Almost certainly front 240 mm vented, rear 250mm non-vented. But with TVR you can never be *absolutely* sure. In any case they're all standard Ford parts (Sierra and Escort) so take the old parts down to your local motorfactor and they will match them up for you. Make sure you get a decent brand of fast road pads not standard pattern road pads though, and remember to bleed the brakes while you're at it and clean the calipers. Oh and while you're at the motorfactors get yourself a caliper windback tool for the rear brakes if you're doing them.

cheers guys but just noticed I made a boo boo.
The 96 spec ones are from a chimera 4.0 not (as assumed) a 96 Griff.
Will they fit???

precat Griffs either 269mm Front,243 Rear or 238F,248R

4 litre Chimenerea '95 on 240F,250R,
All Chiemarenas '96 on 260F,273R.
So, still no really
Ideally, get new alongside old and compare sizes

Any ideas what prices for front and rear for pads and discs?
Went to the Ford parts dept and got that look..........its a what?????
I thought they were Cosworth 2wd discs but with TVR mix and match....
Ah well, dealer qouted silly money £500 I seem to remember

I had the disc off and measured 234mm???????????????
Now do we think this 240mm and lost a bit with rust OR was there a 234mm??
Mine was the first production Griff so could be owt!

No they won't fit exactly. There is a piccyin the bible showing the differences in the pad size and how it is easy to get the wrong ones and in some cases force them in.

Not only that but the disc offset is important and varied a bit and it only takes a mm or two to be out and the disc catches the calliper.

Rather than undergo the merry-go-round of trying to match up the braking components I just handed over to Peninsula and got them to do the lot. I know this was a cop-out, but the impression I got from PH was that you can get (Ford) parts off the shelf if you're lucky. If not, you'll be chasing your tail for ages. I asked Peninsula if the parts were Ford or 'something special' The response was just plain old Ford. Then I get home, take the wheels off for a quick look and the discs are Brembo!

BTW AFAIK the front discs aren't from anything as cool as a Cossie...they're from a Fiesta diesel van!

I have a early version of the Griff book (1998) and give diam of disc but not pad sizes
found a website www.needforspeed.co.uk that shows prices and sizes from diff companies
EBC discs are Circa £30/pr
So may go for them
