Hello,

I keep reading posts refering to R32s. My initial reaction is excitment because I love old Skylines, and the R32 is by far my favourite - I've never had one, but I'd like to, and until then I've got some wheel centre badges with bonkers Japlish written on them (wish I'd kept the GTR forged wheels, so much regret).

Then I get all depressed when I realise they mean a Golf of some kind. I think with a big engine, and I think with 4WD, but frankly I can't be bothered to google as I'm so massively disinterested. Which is odd, considering the Skyline in also a big engined 5 seater with 4WD (though I'd be happier with a RWD GTS-t but with the GTR's flaired arches).

So which one do you think of first? And is there anyone who is equally excited by 20 year old Japanese taxis and fast Golfs? Or is there something else R32 makes you think about first?

Great, vote against me and twist the knife about your youth. Fine.

Bloody kids. R32s are only twenty years old.

Golf, although I know of the R32 Skylines. Not overly interested in them though.

I naturally assume it's a golf given the current rarity of Skylines on the road. I've only ever seen R33s and R34s afterall.

I'm very much aware of the R32 Skyline, but I'm afraid my first reaction was the Golf too. Perhaps mostly because the Nissan is usually just referred to as a Skyline irrespective of era, though.

A golf as it was just R32 (okay, okay it could be mk4 /5). If you were talking about a skyline I'd expect you to say R32 GTS / GTR or similar.

It's a Golf to me, and to most people I suspect since it was the actual model name of the Golf but was just an internal product denominator on the Skyline. smile

The Skyline is a more interesting car, though.

Always think of the skyline first, then realise that most people are talking about the golf.

For what it's worth, I always have the same problem with the Peugeot 308. To me, a 308 is a rather lovely classic Ferrari, not a bloated horrible hatchback thing. hehe

Skyline to me, I remember a friend of mine going on about changing his Gti for an R32 and I thought cool. It turns out we thought different things.

Oh it appears that 60% of PH'ers are too young smile

First thoughts on R32 is a golf, but I equally like the skyline R32 GTR and Golf R32

Not my favourite skyline though- that would have to be this which is stunning and was just down the road from me.....

Slightly off topic- I refer to my car on this forum as an Audi S3 so not to cause confusion with the TVR S3 biggrin
