Knee pain - cleat adjustment?
Discussion
I thought I'd ask your opinions on this.
After a ride I tend to have some pain in my left knee, nothing major but it's deffinately there.
My right knee is fine.
I presume this is where some adjustment of the cleat is required, but which way do I go? The daft thing is the cleat feels pefectly fine when riding, I don't feel like I'm using one leg more than the other or anything like that.
I don't want to start making adjustment only for it to start feeling wrong

Do you over pronate?
Dunno, what is it?
The cleats look fine, and as we're talking about MTB here the cleats are recessed into the shoe and rarely touch the floor.
One thing from that though is I'm a newbie to SPD so the springs on the pedals are still set a little loose, probably about half way on the adjustment screw.

sorry assumed it was road pedals! i know very little about mtb spds but would assume its still play in the set up. Stand on the bike with your foot in the pedal, keep the foot level and waggle it from side to side and see how much movement there is at the heel moving inwards towards the frame and then outwards away from it. you should be able to judge if its too much as you will then see whats happening on each revolution.

Where does your knee hurt? If it's the front, it could be your seat height. When I swapped over to SPDs I had to lower mine slightly because I was getting pain in the front of my left knee. I assume it was because the pedal position had changed slightly and I was over-extending it.
I've left them fairly loose too so that I get a bit more float and 12 months on my knees are fine.
