bit of advice needed?

Hello all, on my way into work this morning my abs light came on with the handbrake warning light.
The handbrake light is continiously flashing whilst the abs light is constant.
I switched the car off and started it and both lights had gone off but after a few minutes done the same.
Will the car be ok to drive home as I don't fancy driving it if something is seriously wrong with the brakes as my commute home is mostly motorway driving?
The car in question is a 99 vw bora tdi.
