If you are doing track days, dont forget to consider the decibel limits!

Well the Akrapovic is now fitted, the manifolds are a work of art. Hindhead tunnel never sounded so good.
No drone anywhere in the rev range, did a nice long trip at the weekend and was very statisfied with the motorway sound. Trouble is, she sounds the dogs danglies when giving it some beans that it will be too much of a temptation. Down to Goodwood at the weekend to get the noise tested (doesn't sound too loud - I hope!!).
Hi Ben,

If you don't mind me asking, how much did the Akrapovic system cost and where did you get it from/fit it ?

Would suggest you get a proper map on the car first before you spend any more money - the exhaust is wasted

An Akropovic system must be worth more than a 996 turbo itself these days ? biggrin

Spy, cost = lots. I bought it direct from Akrapovic and had it fitted by my brother. The manifold studs can be a pain and he walked into the 'dont pay someone to change the studs, I'll do it for you' - and he did (mind you he currently has two 962 engines in for full rebuilds - he knows his stuff).

Zorst is wasted, map etc. yeah, yeah, yeah. The missus likes it, that's enough (and I'm skint).

We'll be down to Goodwood on the 25th just to check the noise. I'll make a little video of the noise test.
If you are running Superchips then the exhaust is a waste of money - great ( if expensive) exhaust but wasted cause the tuning is rubbish.

Word on the street is 9E have just released fully switchable exhausts for all turbos - wouldn't be going anywhere else if they are doing them!

The exhaust is absolutely beautiful! so light too, and the welds are lovely. Manifolds lovely too.

However, It is an awful lot of money for the Akra, not sure I could justify it myself.

I agree, a lovely system, but at a cost. I'm glad we got a rather nice discount. One of those lovely chaps making big Turbo British GT's up north a bit, (who may smile , or may not frown ) be about to use Akrapovic stytems on their cars, was a bit cheeky and asked for a system for Caroline. Being a good girl (boo) she jumped at the chance and bought the Akra. She's now got a ti system for about the same price as any number of stainless systems.

Caroline can't wait to get the car back with all the 9E mods. And she's already got a ti system for woohoo

I'm still skint, but at least I don't have to worry about Christmas.
Christmas is a long way away! It'll be 6 pot calipers next!

A couple of weeks have passed and the guys at 9E asked Caroline to go over and have a drive of the car on Saturday.
She's been smiling since, with the odd smirk and whoosh noises (steady)
The guys have worked their magic and produced a car with loads of grunt, just perfect for popping to Sainsbury's or having a hoon around Goodwood. Not peaky, just instant grunt.

Now this is where 9E go over and above the call of duty - they want to get the car perfect for Caroline - the 5 bar fuel pressure and original injectors can't flow enough fuel, they are at 100% duty cycle, so we need bigger injectors. Which is a big job, and I'm sure if we said, wind the boost down a bit they would be more than happy for us to drive away. But they've got the injectors ordered and will fit them and return to 3.8 bar fuel pressure in the next couple of weeks. They will then finish off all the mapping and data logging. By which time we should have a very quick car with no vices, where the throttle response is about as good as a Turbo car can get.

This is not a numbers car - the exhaust has 400cpsi cats not the less restrictive 100cpsi, the turbos are small wheeled K16's - yet even now it drives great and Ken recons it's got some serious power.

James - after coming away on Saturday Caroline did say, if Ken says we should do the brakes now we will won't we! I don't think she's ever driven anything as fast. I think Christmas is well and truly sorted.
Hi Bob,

Yes I think she did enjoy the car. I'll create a separate thread on the new package as I think others will be interested.

Now the suns out I'll see what I can do. I'll definitely have the GoPro in on our Spa trip 13/14th May.

Just got the car back from Ken and the guys, now two wheel drive with correct geometry - drives lovely smile real 911 feel.

Mild upgrade to B6's - kept the standard springs as it's her indoors everyday car and she does not want to have any more back surgery!

It's a relatively soft, Tip, 2wd turbo that sounds the nuts with 0-300kph in well under 30 seconds. And does over 20mpg on the missus short trips to/from work.
Got the Tip upgrade to do later this year just for peace of mind; and Ken can turn the boost up a little bit.

The motorsport 6pot/4pot brakes are superb, the K16/32's spin up so fast there is no difference in lag to the standard K16's (next to none) but 50% more power.
Does this conversion involve replacing injectors or are you running a 5bar fpr? Did you log any 60-130mph runs, I'd be interested to see how these new breed compare to my old skool 16/24s. Cheers
