I currently have an EOS 450D which I love but the shutter has broken. I can get it repaired but its going to take too long to get it back in time for the Grand Prix.
Do I go for an EOS 650D or one of the more professional level Canon's, budget is a bit of an issue but what would you lot recommend?

I have the 60D and am very happy with it, it's actually slightly cheaper than the 650D.

There's a comparison here: http://thepixelchase.com/canon-650d-vs-canon-60d-w...

I found the 60D fitted in my hands much better, the 600D felt like a toy afterwards.

If you want it for motorsport use I'd get a used 1D Mk2 (depending on your lens lineup). Far better than anything else around the £400 level.

A used 7D will be the same price as a 60d I think? Orsome sport camera, better option than a 1d2 I think.

650D is a great little camera, especially for video, it can do 5 fps but only in very short bursts, the 60d and 7d are still much better for that.

The going price for a good deal on a used 7D on eBay seems to be about £750 at the moment.

The Canon Outlet shop on eBay were offering a few refurb 7D bodies at that price (£749.99 with 12 months Canon warranty) earlier this week but sold them in hours. Even if they put up some more quite soon it would probably be too late for delivery to match your needs.

However, if they find some more 600Ds in the next day or two and price them as they did the 5 that sold in a few hours a couple of days ago (see my recent thread) that could be a good option for you.

I just moved from a 450D to a 7D and I couldn't be happier wit the move.

Whenever I handle my 450D now it just feels like a toy. The 7D feels like a proper camera.
The 8fps and 1080p video mode is good too. Especially when you can film at 60fps and make slow motion footage.

I bought a new, grey import (with a 3 year warranty) from HDEW Cameras for £835.
