1981 colf C
originally 1.1 carb but fitted a polo Gt 1.3 8v on bike carbs
resprayed in VW texas yellow - a 1602 beetle colour
running on 15" BBS Rs wheels.

everything pretty much is new, built by my own fair hands over the last 3 years

Love it, although it's fractionally too low and the tyres are over stretched for my tastes, but you're not bothered at all about that! Would love to see some build/resto pics, especially parts you've fabricated etc. Love Mk1's, congratulations on a fantastic example.

Well done fella that is a top rebuild and shows exactly what can be done on what I presume was a fairly 'light' budget.

The car looks cracking, good choice of colour (hopefully the yellow doesn't fade like Nugget Yellow or Onvi yellow can) good engine (my old GT managed over 100hp NA and was a riot, hope you have a GT gearbox?) and finished off with some subtle mods and a classic choice of wheel.

Ok so £10k is quite a bit but I expect a significant chunk was on the bodywork.

Either way the main thing is the result is outstanding.

to me, that is just gorgeous, particularly in the first pic, it looks like there's some golden/ pearlescenty quality in the paint?

I had a lhasa green mk1 gti, TSR tuned and miss is more than any other car i let go. This though, this is just lovely. Well done. Go enjoy it!

O I know that very well but I am always a tad scared to add up all the receipts since I tried it with mk2 golf I rebuilt. I owned the car for over 7 years before selling it for 15% of it's build cost> The main thing is it is difficult to put a value on the satisfaction I/you get from having completed a project and enjoying the results.
