I was driving into Nottingham yesterday and noticed yet another hand car-wash had opened (London road coming from Trent Bridge for those who know the area).

Now, at both ends of London Road there is a hand car wash too - they're all about half a mile apart. I can think of 3 others in close proximity too.

I just don't get it - how many do we need? Is it this bad in other big cities? I don't use them as I wash both my cars at home but there must be a massive demand if this many keep opening.

Yours, curious of Nottingham.

Loads in London, but then not many people have facilities to wash their own cars.

This. Or make a few quid washing cars properly, but have a guy turn up and leave his for a valet which is full of 'merchandise'. This is then easily distributed by handing said merchandise out and cash over whilst having a car washed.

I know of a friend who receives his herbal medicine in this manor.

I am not for one moment knocking the drive and business acumen these people have, I'm just amazed people thInk they can still make a living from it when so many people are also at it.

You should see the queues at the one on the A46 at Stragglethore (behind the BP garage).

I've never seen it empty and I pass regularly for the last 5 years or so.

Many of which you'll find are probably owned by the same people.

All of the ones in my neck of the woods seem to be populated entirely with young Eastern European men with hardly a word of English between them.

Seem to do a bloody good job though.

I'm too mean to pay for a car wash however.

Which isn't a bad thing.............unless you wake up at 730am every morning. Then......that's maybe not quite so good.
