As part of our new extension we have ended up with an 'alcove' that the wife has decided she wants a fish tank in.

I know very little apart from they are expensive and need cleaning...

The size we have is 1600mm wide, 1300mm tall and ideally 200mm deep - it could be deeper by making an extended shelf but it would then be overhanging a radiator.

It would have to be a custom made unit, but I don't think it is deep enough?

If it is possible who would we need to speak too to get an idea of cost?

There are a few places who will custom make a tank for you. Will it be for marine (and need drilling) or not?

Never used them myself but http://www.poseidons-palace.co.uk/ seem to be able to do most things and when I looked a while ago they had a pricing thing on their website to give you an idea of costs etc

Got an email back from one company - £3k including pumps and heaters! I have told her no way, and trying to persuade her a projector and motorised screen are a better idea...

Shame as I quite fancied one!

If you don't have it so tall, it would be considerably cheaper.
You can get them built at 30inches tall out of 10mm, over that depth its stoopid money as you've found out.

eek

Over 24" you want to be going over 10mm, my 30" deep tanks are 18mm......... Pretty sure the tank CAD systems have much higher specs than 10mm!

All three of my 30" deep tanks made by Seabray, Seashell and Clearseal were made of 10mm.

My two are 18mm.... But they are 10ft and 9ft.... I would be very wary of 10mm glass on a 30" deep tank.
