unfortunately i am serious

i have two exactly the same jaguar XJRs in black, and i really like the wheels on both cars, and i would to have them stolen , and of course i have locking nuts.
i was thinking if i swapped two of the wheels from one car to the other on one side only, that nobody would attempt to steal them, as they would not get a full set. the wheels are the same size, the tyres are the same profile, im guessing that id have to keep the two front tyres the same on both cars and the rears two. im thinking the only problem might be with the different weight of the wheels and maybe something might invalidate the insurance?
these are the two sets of wheels
photos on the way, bear with me

you would only ever see one side at a time so it wouldnt matter, i think its brilliant ( it is past midnight :-)

seriously? if the wheels are worth stealing and your in a dodgy area then they will be stolen regardless of whether its a set or not. surely if its that much of a risk then another set of locking wheel nuts wouldnt be a terrible idea?

Yes, this is a very good attempt at most stupid ph post.
Seriously if they haven't been stolen in the 10+ years the cars have been on the road why would it happen now? And how is rolling around on odd wheels anywhere near the best way to avoid theft?

if you had 2 sides different then you would probably get pulled a lot too.
and yes, very good attempt (although not quite up to diesel in the washer bottle standard) and i think you need to get some sleep and reflect on your master anti-theft plan in the morning wink

youd get £20 each scrap value on the wheels, whats the point in nicking them when there attached to a jag that could also be nicked?

i still maintain, only people interested in this type of car would even notice, why would they? even the boys in blue

If you swap half the wheels over from either side of each car, they will just steal the set either way, so you will be left with 2 cars, with only half the wheels on each..

i on the other hand do live in a dodgy area and yet nobody ever nicked the wheels of any of the range rovers, or bothered to try the passenger door on my disco. i think your being a little paranoid. i could understand if they were 24" chrome abominations, but yours dont exactly stand out.

I could see it being quite a successful joke if they did, lots of people would be very amused by it.

If I were you, I'd remove all the wheels and keep them indoors every night...

Or you could sleep in one car and the missus could sleep in the other.

as an aside, does anyone think the fatter spoked wheels would suit the car better if they were painted black?

Quoted so I can read this in the morning when sober.

But can I suggest buying 2 new sets of wheels to put on the cars so you can keep these on the wall in your lounge to stare at.

thats a good idea, or i could just make her sleep in the car with the wheels i prefer, i could then stay in bed

i dont reckon much of that daft idea of taking the wheels in every night, come on this is a serious dicussion :-)
