Couple of cosmetic questions

With regards the tailpipes:
I bought some autosol and thought it was OK, but then tried using brasso and that seems to be a huge amount better - especially for aluminium bits (also a lot cheaper too)

1. I can see from your profile pic it`s the earlier grill so same as mine - some use double sided tape supplied with new plates and I tried this but was not entirely happy with it so added screws (as it was originally) either end. If you look through the grill you will see two flat bars going from top to bottom - my plate is screwed into these.

2. I use Autosol

2) The tail pipes are stainless steel, and "Shiny sinks" (available from all good supermarkets) is excellent, especially if heavily soilled / stained, but work it in hard and leave it for a good while before washing off.

I have used small screws and nuts with washers to hold mine into the grill.

My tailpipes are fairly clean anyhow so I just wash them with Autoglym shampoo when cleaning the car. When I wax it I do the pipes too.

Autosol is available in Halfwits - any Chrome Cleaner should do.

Autosol and Peek available in Halfords - if you're not far away you can have my old Autosol ;hehe:

Shiny Sinks in homeware shops (but again, I found a different product to be better on my pans - SteelFix, available in same shops) BTW if you need to get stains off s/s pans or casserole dishes etc, soak them in water and biological Persil - easy! I have to be different, don't I?

On the other hand, I'm famous for my hatred of cleaning, so if I reckon I've found a product that makes it easier, maybe it's worth a try?

I like the Persil idea and will definately try the Steelfix....

Perhaps I'll try soaking the tail pipes in Persil some time. Practical suggestions on a postcard!
