Hi,

My rev4 MR2 has just the other day failed its mot. A couple of local garages have already said they wouldn't complete the work as they deem it as "specialist". Does anyone know of any reliable and ideally reasonably priced garages in the Midlands (Staffordshire) that specialise in Toyotas, MR2 or similar ilk?

Or better still, anyone here actually do this for a living?

As a final point anyone hazard a guess to an £estimate? After a bit of research I'm thinking a lot.
front anti roll bar linkage
drivers side seat belt anchor corroded
exhaust
drivers side strut bearing
passenger side rear park brake "little effort" < which has pissed me off because I spent several hundred on brakes and brake servicing about 6month ago

Many thanks! thumbup

ask on IMOC, there are plenty of MR2 specialists in the midlands (mainly around Birmingham).

Closer to home - http://ww.mr2oc.co.uk/component/content/article/44...

The corroded seat belt anchorage is going to be your biggest headache. The rest of the list are easy fixes.

You're just a masochist. rolleyes Besides, why stop there when you could go all the way to Woodsport? rofl
The furthest point in Staffordshire is less than 50 miles from Nathan and most places are far less than that.

To be fair I only drove back from Barnsley, the car went up there on a low loader after an altercation with a hedge tongue out

The drive back was fun, +25c and no AC. Windows wide open all the way back on the motorway hehe

That link, perfect. About 2mins from a mates house so a ride back as well!

And yeah, that was the very unexpected one. I knew the anti roll needed attention and expected an advisory, same with exhaust (money last month frown ) but that was the one that made a certain body part twitch when the garage mentioned it over the phone.

Try Luke at Pacific Works just off M1/A5 junction.

He looks after mine and many others on IMOC for years and generally very reasonably priced.

+1

But why suggest the OP makes a 200 mile round trip when there is a viable alternative much closer at hand?

Lol, since it has no MOT I really don't fancy taking it more than about 10/20miles.

Its no different than before technically but I want tokeep my never been pulled over record.

Spoke to Natahn at Mr Twos, what a nice guy and sounded much like an expert on the phone. Knew every problem before I finished each sentence and even the seat belt was a no worries one for him. So its off there near the end of the week. Can't wait to get it back! The company crap box and my mothers ever so dull Honda I'm borrowing are grating and I want the release lol.

Many thanks guys!

Well that went well, the car is currently, effectively elctrically (Dick Van Dyke style) dead.
Not even going to guess whats happened here, like most electrics probably something very small but overall incredibly frustrating.

So not at a garage and now sat somewhere near the house. Still, at least it can't get knicked.

Just wanted to update this to say thanks to you lot for the help and reccomend Mr Twos, cracking job done by Nathan from there, top bloke.

So nice to have my car back after not really having it (either at garages or dead) for around 3, almost 4 weeks in total. smile
