Altea - rev decrease issues

Just bought a used seat Altea auto (dsg) and driving home on the motorway suddenly the car reduced speed from 80 to 40mph. I think it's Becuase the gears were not changing in timely fashion but wanted to know if anyone has experienced something similar with these cars?

Is there a gear box issue or otherwise?

How do you mean "suddenly"? Brakes locking on? Gearbox shifting into second? Or just losing power?

It was more a loss of power with a corresponding decrease in revs; I didnt pay attention to the gear ratios being displayed on the dash.

Loss of power seems to sum it up best. I've not driven it on the motorway since but it's been behaving itself in local driving conditions.
