DB9 Service

My 05 plate DB9 is shortly due for service.

The car has covered 38000 miles . The main dealership at I use state that a 70000 mile or 7 year service is required and quote £1858.14 inc. vat . Apparently the car requires a spark plug change.

Is their price about right ?

Stratstone Wilmslow I believe will dio it for £1200 inc vat if you supply the oil

Have you considered the independents for the work? Even top-notch people like me use them these days

Unfortunately changing the spark plugs is quiet a long job. Lots of expensive man hours!
You are quiet away from any of the usual independents as well. You could always make a bit of a short break away and get it done though. What you save could pay for your accommodation etc.

Yeti, I live in the Westcountry, which seems to be a bit of a wilderness when it comes to Independents whom I would trust with my AM ( unless someone on here knows of a good 'un ).

May just take the car back to the main dealership where I bought it which means travelling a fair distance but will combine with a short break . At least they quote a bit less than the £1858.14. Must say that the dealership quoting that were totally inflexible on the price in consequence of which I will probably not use them again.

Dealerships are taking a much more flexible approach to price on older cars as they know they just can't charge the same as a newer car........it's the same with BMW and Mercedes

I've experienced the same 'take or leave it' attitude from our local dealer (I'm slightly further west than you) and funny thing - I don't go there...

I've found Grange AM at Exeter to be pretty good.
They are usually up for a haggle.
Have you spoken to them?

Be quite helpful if the independents prices were available somewhere for reference.

Yes it was Grange Exeter that quoted the £1800 plus price tag!
No reduction despite me asking.

Some independents like Chilton support AMOC members with a discount. Yeti’s favorite doesn’t at the moment.

When I see prices up front, I see it as a sign of transparency and integrity, regardless of how competitive.

I wish the independents would clearly state prices on their websites, and realize its only part of the mix.

By the way, in the light of new info, I’m now reading your posts with the voice of Jamie Carragher, rather than Frazer, out of Dad’s Army…fair?

Third year service DB9 quoted at £525 at an Indy in March - that's about 20% reduction so I have some empirical evidence to support the claim.

Chiltern do indeed do 10% on parts I think for AMOCers. Top outfit and very heavily involved with the club after decades of Astoneering, no-one else I trusted with my DB7.

Why not take a weekend away and take the car to Trinity then stay the night in London and take in a show?

I might be over thinking things, but I’m not comfortable with discount main stealer prices…. Knowing they can do it half the time if not more than somewhere like Trinity bothers me, especially taking into account the difference in scope of service…

Harwoods is 20mins for me, Trinity 45mins- 1hour depending on traffic buit I’d rather be with Trinity, guess same applies to Bamford Rose and other Indys that actually care about the product more than the main stealers.
