Because it appears that freakish sized insects have appeared in our front garden this morning, these could only be the result of a nuclear attack

It is a Stag Beetle. I'd love to see one in my garden. No nuclear explosion, perfectly normal creature.

Must be a good year for them this is the second mention of them on a thread very recently.

Hope your bank account is empty too Colin - we've now got a name, card number and security number along with expiry date.

These Stag beetles certainly are crooked critters.

yes I do realise it's not a security number - just the last 4 digits

I was thinking the same having quite easily read Colin's name, card number, expiry date and CVV code from his post. I'd cancel that card right now!

I just tried to buy a new laptop, insufficient funds. Seems like your account's been rinsed already.

The sad thing about this picture is that it's made me realise that I haven't seen a stag beetle in years.

Have they become much rarer over the last x years?

Thanks guys you have just panicked me into cancelling my card, I must have been suffering from the nuclear fallout that created that beetle

Yup, found one out walking the dogs the other day, then another one yesterday but it was a whole lot flatter than I would have liked...

OP, there is a request somewhere or other to record their sizes and report them..... If you are interested in doing that, google it?
