Hi Guys

Well I had the S2 shocks & springs fitted to my S1 on Monday and I have nothing but praise for them. The horrible knocking noise has gone, the ride is more composed and less crashy, steering feel is much improved and turn in is less of a hit and miss affair. All in all, well worth the money. Price from the dealer for the kit is £569, but I got some discount, which made the kit price only £500 (same as steve butts)

another thing is that the car seems more stable at high speeds and the fidgeting feeling has become less pronounced - bonus!

I got the s2 kit on my s1 also for 2 months now and it is very good indeed. I had the first real test a few weeks ago on the Nürburgring and it is a worthy upgrade. It also has been set to a bit more neg camber and turn in is now a bit sharper also. My only upgrade i still have to do is tyres. I have 185/205 vredestein sportrac now and they seem to last forever, or i am not pushing hard enough The grip at the rear is ok but the fronts aren't very good. Does anyone know what tyres are best for the s1 with s2 suspension and focused more on track (ring) use than road?

Hi Guys

The kit is the official Lotus one, it consists of 4 x dampers (Bilstein) and 4 x springs (Eibach). I don't know if the springs are all S2 type or VX type but here is some technical data.

Lotus Part No: A111C0148S

S1 front spring rate: 27.5 N/mm
S1 rear spring rate: 40.0 N/mm

S2 front spring rate: 42.5 N/mm
S2 rear spring rate: 50 N/mm

So the springs are tighter, but if you expext a harsher ride, forget it. the Koni dampers were really finished on my S1 so the ride was terrible to say the least, but the new set-up gives a super smooth ride over all surfaces. I took the car for a blast along a little quiet road yesterday which consists of a few tight bends and an uneven surface and the car just grips to the road like S**T to a blanket! (Drag you must know where this road is, just at the back of Cleadon)

Prices:

Official price from Lotus is £569.83 Inc VAT. I managed to get the kit for £512.84 (10% discount) as I am a loyal customer, so this in reality makes the kit just a fraction cheaper than Steve Butts if you include the P&P from Steve (£500 for the kit & £15 P&P)

Fitting was 3.8 Hours @ £70.50 per hour
Geo Check was 1.0 hours @ £70.50 per hour

so total price was £851.25 Inc VAT

Drag's correct, this work was all done by Formula 1 Newcastle.

Don't know cuzza, I think from memory the S1 LSS are adjustable Koni's - but for a sure fire answer ask Dragstar, he runs with the S1 LSS kit.

Yeah, but what's the chance of him actually knowing the difference?

S1 LSS was yellow Konis as opposed to standard red ones, and stiffer springs. They were only adjustable (settable really) for ride height, not damping.

S2 shocks are Bilstein, I think _all_ the various springs are from Eibach.
