good day at mallory today
Discussion
Me, my brother and Dad were there also! I think its a cracking track, plenty to concentrate on and due to the fairly short lap distance you can get a fair few laps in and improve lines/braking points etc! There were a few cooper s' there not sure which one yours was, but saw some lift off oversteer moments from a cooper s at one point

Ours was the black with white roof, white sun strip (the other one was dark green / white roof). Myself and my mate drive it - joint owned and we are working on various improvements with the help of 1320 mini. Woolfie said:

Did it have the silver 5 spoke(i think) alloys? they seemed to be going well anyway! We were in the yellow caterham, dad only went out once so it was mine and my bros for the remainder or the day! Dont understand the criticism mallory gets on here, its a brilliant little track imo.

It suits the set-up of the R53 mini cooper s and there is enough in the laps to keep you entertained and challenged. I can't get enough of going round gerards and working out different lines and then seeking to get the esses right.
It certainly is a great little track. Managed to get the esses right after kicking my bro out as his fat arse was dragging the nose wide

Did they noise test you , have heard they are enforcing a 98 db noise limit now which rules my car out .
Yes our car spiked at 99 due to exhaust harmonics but the guy was fine and gave us a 97 but told us to get another pipe to stick on if we get done for it elsewhere.
It was only my second time there [Yellow Seat Leon] in 4 yrs and I agree for a shorter track it is still good fun.Really please it stayed dry for us aswell.
My only negative comment is that they booked a few too many cars.It did ease as day went on but at times it felt like the M25 out there! I know organisers always use the numbers of cars balanced against entry fees argument but on this occasion that doesn't stand up as at mid 60s booked they were still selling places and at £149 it wasn't as though it was particularly cheap for Mallory.

I was the bloke who came over and asked about what you'd done to your leon as you looked rapid down the straights. I agreee it was a bit busy especially with the slower cars forming a bit of a train through the esses towards the hairpin. We were lucky at being able to nip around the outside through gerrards though because of the extra grip. Yes it did get pretty busy on track at times, think i waved you through (yellow seat leon) only to follow on behind you in the train
I pulled in shortly after that as it seemed to me everyone was happy following each other around leaving scarce opportunities for the faster cars to overtake. having said that though it was on the whole enjoyable

I'd be interested to see if you can find another open pit trackday at Mallory on a summer Saturday for less, not that many run there but they are/were it's generally at least that price and often more like £200 I think.Track-Days don't run events, they are an agency so who you actually end up running the event is luck of the draw. Wherever possible try to book directly with the organiser, that way you get to know the ones you like.
Comments about Saturday being busy are more a reflection on the track than the organiser, Mallory is licenced to run a relatively high number of cars on track when compared with longer circuits and any organiser has to book enough cars in to cover the cost. That said, it's still a great track and I thought Saturday ran well and with no queuing to get out on circuit that I noticed.
