.............or should I say unlocking!

The car is an 04 plate Cooper. It locks normally on one push of the key button but when pushing to unlock, only the passenger door and boot will unlock. We have to put the key in the door to unlock the drivers door. It's not the end of the world but I would like to fix it. Anyone have any ideas what the problem is?

Thanks in advance.

Yes you need to replace the door central locking unit (the unit that the lock pull handel and latch attach to). There is an actuator that moves the door lock open and closed. I do not know of any one how has fixed the unit only replacing the hole thing. There is a You tube video of some one doing the work.

Thanks Dan.
Elsewhere I've been told it could be the door actuator solenoid! I wonder if that's the same thing?

its a whole locking unit, I have 6 of them broken and I have started to strip them down to find the failure but really the only fix is to replace it
