Ok, this may be a daft question, but I'll be flying out of Gatwick next week and am in need of a new laptop.
Are the electrical items in duty-free considerably cheaper then high street prices? (I've only ever bought alcohol and aftershave when at the airport! lol)

No. Items may be slightly cheaper, but I would prefer to carry out my research dbefore buying. The problem with duty-free is you don't know the selection and prices until you're there!

You certainly won't save 20%...

When I went through the other week Dixons were doing a price match to Amazon's prices but not to Amazon shops. I usually check prices on my phone when I am there to see if the deal is good. I've never really seen any great deals when I have been through there probably circa 5% off of the high street price.

You may be better off buying at your destination. The US offers good savings as long as you know what you're looking for and don't buy something wireless that is tied into a US provider. Places like Tenerife always SEEM to be offering deals but I've never bought or researched so don't know. Places like Thailand have cheap goods but you risk them being counterfeit.

Duty free though - no.

I bought a pair of the new Bowers & Wilkins P3 headphones last week whilst flying out of T5.

They cost ~£153 which is 10% off the RRP £170 being sold on the high street.
