Easiest way of storing roof in boot
Discussion
Hi,
The weather might improve soon, and thoughts turn to getting the roof down on my recently purchased chimaera. However I have read the owners manual and the " bible " and still fail miserably to get the roof in the boot properly. I have tried searching you tube and the search engine on the forum, can anyone point me in the right direction,
Thanks all,
Barrie

Stand at the back of the car (with the boot open!) holding the roof as it would be on the car, tilt the front up until the roof is nearly vertical, stick the left hand side in first, push it across as far as it will go, then the right hand side will drop in. That's how i do it, anyway

This is what I do too. I spent some frustrating minutes trying to get the roof in before working out the above method.Jsut to add to the debate, and using the scenario above whereby holding the roof flat in the same position as it would be on the car I turn the front down, rotate the roof so the mohair is facing you then put the roof in as descibed by others.
So when in, its sitting on the front point with the curve of the roof wrapping around the petrol tank. Part of the reason I do this is the extended (rear) corners, and me being paranoid about catching them on the paintwork.
Hope that makes sense.

This is my method also - free's up a bit more boot space. So when in, its sitting on the front point with the curve of the roof wrapping around the petrol tank. Part of the reason I do this is the extended (rear) corners, and me being paranoid about catching them on the paintwork.

From left to right and keeping a hand on the right hand lower corner so as not to catch the rear wing with the roof corner and scratching as so many do
Isn't that job handled by the boot seal rubber...

Phil
look at any back wings on any Chim in that area and then get back to me
resprays not included

Don't all the cars have the flappy vynal protector thingy to drape over the wing for this purpose?
First I've heard of them.fausTVR said:
About a 12" square flap hanging under the rubber seal that side, for wing-top drapeage. Maybe a factory option then? Also mine has poppers around the base of the rear hood for fitting the rear hood cover which I haven't seen on others.
Mine has poppers all around the top of the dash, as though it once had a tonneau cover. Never seen one though.Silver said:
