Worst day ever yesterday
Discussion
Hi all,
This would be my first post here, but I have been following this forum for a while. So first of all, a big HELLO.
Yesterday, I was driving my E46 323CI to the Southampton town, and as soon I was entering the junction in front of Jury's Inn Hotel, my car stopped. I can't press the accelerator pedal. I was stucked in the middle of the road. I got panicked, rang my insurance to found out that I'm not covered for the breakdown service. After wandering around the engine bay for about an hour, I found out that the throttle cable was disconnected from the throttle body.
After that, 1 person came offering me to push the car into the a junction to avoid congestion, and he asked another 2 persons nearby to give a hand. I was stupid enough to leave my wallet at the glove's box in the boot. After they pushed my car, I thanked them and 2-3 minutes after I went to take my wallet and found out it was stolen. What a day
I don't know what to do, but then I stil have to do something to my car. I used my hands to feel around the throttle body, managed to put the ball joint (end of the cable) back to body. Car is back to normal, but when I stopped to check the body, the cable came off again.
I have made a police report, hopefully they will return my documents like license, work permit, and etc.
What should I do now to my car? After spending last night googling, I found out that the throttle body plastic part has snapped as most probably happened to my car. Do I need to get a new one? I still have to sort out with Natwest, tried to cancelled the card yesterday but because of the breakdown issue, nothing that can be done.
I hope everyone else is having a good weekend. Cheers!

That's not as bad as my day yesterday. I slept the night in my mates car trailer at Silverstone and my airbed went completely flat within two hours. I spent the night slowly rolling round in my sleeping bag to relieve the pain from lying on a hard floor. On top of that I had an awful hangover and only made up 5 places in my race, oh and I lost a bet which cost me £10. life sucks sometimes.
Shame is guy wasnt around to give you a push http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

I suppose it comes with age but having very close family members die or being diagnosed with cancer ranks as a bad day, your car breaking down doesn't get very high on my bad day scale although having your wallet stolen would be pretty depressing.peterbredde said:

So you broke down at a junction and your insurance company was the first you rang to find out you haven't got breakdown cover? then waited another hour before moving the car causing congestion......are you still on breast milk?

God, just shut up. What is it lately with PH newbies?Fate conspiring to ruin your day is never nice
Google is your friend for diagnosing throttle body problems.
eBay is your friend for replacement parts.
The rozzers are your friends for thieving buggery
PH is your friend for advice. And abuse. Ignore what isn't relevant, most people on here are helpful; some just like to troll.
I would check to make sure your wallet hasn't fallen somewhere inaccessible, (I lost a Nokia 6310 for 6 months and found it when fixing a sticky handbrake! It had fallen down the slot), as you don't usually have thieving buggers that are also willing to help some stranded motorist.
Stick with PH though, well worth it.
