As above, i'm based in North London, but guess most will ship parts as needed?

Who comes recommended?

I've noticed with 80-90s Mercs that MB parts aren't much more expensive (occasionally cheaper) than specialists or ebay for that matter, so wondering if its the same with porkers

I understand that there's good support for air-cooled cars at OPC Swindon. They care for some very tasty cars and some of the staff are direct contacts for Porsche in the UK for older cars. I can PM you a name if you wish.

Does it matter that much? What are you specifically looking for that you are expecting not to find at some OPCs?

Took mine to byflleet on one of their recent freebie days. They know their 993s. They have history as an indie so I guess more invested in te old cars

An interest in a 25 yr old Porsche would be a good start smile

I've only set foot once in an OPC (East London, circa 2005) having owned my current 3.2 and previous 3.2 CS for approx 8 years; the general attitude at the parts desk left a lot to be desired so wondering if things have changed in terms of attitude, part pricing, knowledgeability etc or whether I picked a bad one?

Thanks all for your responses BTW

Part pricing is generally really good and will often surprise you. As an example my 944 windscreen washer pump went, it was around £30 from the online parts suppliers, but £9 from OPC.

Some parts are damned expensive, the little rubber strip that wraps around the corner of the rear bumper on my 3.2 is £30 for a plain one or £125 for one with a reflector in it yikes

The attitude and knowledge is purely dependant on the who you are dealing with but it is always worth checking with OPC first.

Always had excellent service from the parts guys at Wilmslow when needing stuff for my 964. Although that's not much use to OP because of his location, it's meant to illustrate that all OPCs can get you air-cooled parts. As long as the stock still exists and you have the right guys on the parts counter, they will find them for you.

Mid Sussex - ask for Steven or Peter in servicing. Peter went through a old restoration they are currently doing from scratch and told me they are in discussion with Reading to become a centre of expertise for classic restoration in the UK.

Parts guys at East London are fine in my (recent) experience, more than helpful
