South End Cruise

Hi all, many years ago when I was a young'en I used to go down to Southend on a Saturday night along with hundreds of others from all over to show off our cars. Does anyone know if this still happens? And whether it's worth taking a trip down there sometime in my Monaro with my 8 year old? He's well into his car's so I thought i'd take him somewhere like Southend. Also does Chelsea cruise still happen?

Any info on these would be much appreciated.

There us some Ford gathering that happens by the casino once a month or so. However the council have changed the lay out of the road to stop those cretins driving round and round and round all night long.

I remember those from years ago, I think the police put a stop to them due to the amount of dick heads that turned up and ruined it for everyone else.

The meets continued until quiet recently I think. I used to go over there from sunny Suffolk for the evening,
some awesome cars out and about and a very good atmosphere. As previously mentioned the meets were ruined by idiots and are nothing like they used to be. Infact I saw my first Ford RS200 at a South End car meet 4 years ago O.p. keep an eye out online as some of the more 'legal' meet dates are posted on various car forums/ sites. Sadly the sight of big turbo cossies drag racing Toyota Supras down Basildon Strip has become a thing of the past.

Yes that behaviour is probably going to lead to a flaming on here but to a 17 year old petrol head its the coolest thing in the world. after boobies anyway

Yes I will keep my eye on the forum and make an effort to attend one if it's not too far from me. I bet a few of you know more about the history of my cv8 than I do....
