There was a Panasonic twin-tuner freesat 500GB recorder with blu-ray burner, about £800. I was going to buy this when I get my dish changed to a quad lnb. Thing is, they stopped making it, and now only do freeview machines. I don't really want freeview - maybe due to higher compression but the quality seems noticeably worse. Another advantage of a panny recorder would have been the viera link to hook up with the panasonic plasma and use a single remote.

Are there any other freesat blu-ray recorders? There are freesat HDD recorders, but can't find any with blu-ray. Is there another alternative - media centre PC perhaps? Please don't suggest Sky though. Not Virgin either, as sadly there's no cable here.

thanks!

There is this one from Panasonic http://www.panasonic.co.uk/html/en_GB/Products/Hom...
wink

They do do a more expensive one also but that just has a larger HDD.

I have one of the older ones and it's great, it does everything.

DMR-BS780 (250GB HDD) Panasonic Price: £611.99
DMR-BS880 (500GB HDD) Panasonic Price: £815.99

£200 for a slightly bigger box with an HD that probably only costs £10 more

Thanks - but if you click on "online shop" on that page, you get a "page not found" error - they don't sell it anymore frown

However, I just realised google shopping does show some retailers still selling it (and the BS880) - not that I've not heard of any of these retailers http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?q=DMR-BS8...

Looked at these for my mum last night. I think you can get the Panasonic 320GB blu Ray recorder for £299.99 on Amazon through SuperFI
