managed to breath life into 12 months standing batt and got her started....i then noticed steam coming from behind the engine (bulk head side)visable from both sides and then water dripping down inside passenger footwell...tried to see eactly where and it appeared to be one of the 2 water pipes on the right (obviously had to cut power asap to prevent the electrics getting soaked)

my engineering knowledge at this point leads me to tightening every jubilee clip in sight and trying again......anyone with a better solution/idea??

Check connections at the heater matrix and the matrix it self, its just under the dashboard

The heater hoses can chaff on the bellhousing to this leads to it running down the hose and if the silkaflex to body seal is breached will find its way inside the cabin too frown not trying to scare but a possibility smile check all the connections 1st as Alex as said smile Alex need anymore block measurement's as I have a rather tasty 66 Mustang 289 coming in on Wednesday biggrin

thanks for your advice thus far.....i have tightened (suprising loose) clips and am looking to restart engine.

however i seem to have some kind of vacuum which has sucked in the main water pipes (see pic)....how do i safely rectify this on can i start the car in this state?

That's either a knackered radiator expansion cap or the expansion bottle lower inlet nipple/fitting is blocked with silt squeeze the top hose and see if the coolant level in the expansion bottle goes up or down/makes gurgling noises, if its blocked a wire coat hanger should clear it wink no biggie really thumbup
