While i was doing a little spring (not Summer yet) cleaning i thought i would tidy up the trumpet base and make a spacer from 4mm tufnol

I filled in those nasty voids with chemical metal.
As i am injecting fuel with nitrous at the elbow i wanted to exclude the possibilty that fual could collect.
Probably wasnt a real problem but the base looks a lot better for it i think.

I thought the blended base looses torque but gains BHP.

Nice job ,I like the thermal gasket ,can you make ten more and stick them on classifieds !

I had this engine mapped and rolling roaded with the blended base and had 312 bhp and a very nice torque curve right through the rev range.
If i dont get a job offer soon i may make a heap of these spacers. What shall we say? £25 each?

Did a 'Bazzer' earlier and dropped an 11mm socket into one of the intake pots!
Darn dodgy extension in my socket set.

Got it out with the trusty old extendable magnet smile

Motor still in bits but timing now done. Sump now off to fit a new gasket. Keep finding things to do whilst waiting for the return of the pulley. Somebody stop me.

So you put the spacer in to sheild the trumpets from heat? Then shortened trumpets? Im a noobie in engine tooning wink Will this help my 400 or do I need intake and heads done aswell as cam to make a difference?

Ole the spacer goes in between the trumpet base and inlet manifold ,the idea is to stop heat sink,it may give a few HP ,unless you spend serious money you get small gains with minor mods.

ACT carbon Trumpets work well on the 4l or Aluminium short flared trumpets

Full ACT induction kit with a nice big K@N airfilter

Insulator Gasket as above you can buy them from Magna parva (dont buy the thicker one which need longer bolts)
If you want serious power buy a 5l or one which has had serious mods.. unless you want to spend ££££££`s

Remember you have a standard 4l .

You have a very nice unmolested standard car !
