Odd looking MX-5
Discussion
Spotted this MX-5 this morning on the M26/M25. It caught my attention as it was sitting VERY low, and the wheels (deep dish alloys) had a massive amount of camber applied... surely this car must suffer from horrendous wear on the inner edges of its tyres?
Also what's that 'studded' line under the boot spoiler all about?

spoliler is riveted on, why 'because race car'.
this car look like its been 'Stanced' however the camber may be like that so its easier to drift as MX5 aren't that powerful and those are quite wide tyres.
I run -1 degree of camber on the front of my golf as it give better grip through corners. but that looks to be way more so probably losing grip.

The camber tends to go like that when they're lowered a fair amount. Mine was on standard Daisies and the "stance" was quite widethis car look like its been 'Stanced' however the camber may be like that so its easier to drift as MX5 aren't that powerful and those are quite wide tyres.

The spoiler in question is the same type I was after, but couldn't find for love nor money...although I would have the rivets covered up
I know a person with an MX-5 much, much more ridiculous than that. Lower, more camber, odd colours, and a wing which is both wider, and taller than the rest of the car. I don't normally like cars that fit this description, but this really is an exception. I love how bizarre it is! It's actually supposed to handle quite well too I think, although I've never been a passenger in it.

Cannot understand why you'd do that to an MX-5 unless the driver has some kind of masochistic pleasure for sitting in an uncomfortable manner. Probably sits on rocks when he gets home?
Mine is lower than this.. And in my opinion more comfortable than when it was standard.Riknos said:
The owner thinks it looks really cool to 'stance' his car, ruining the handling and ride, for 'looks' which are very subjective.
And there are people who ruin the looks of their car for 'handling', which is very subjective
I will never understand why some people get angry when others modify their cars. It's no different to painting your house, wearing different clothes, changing your hairstyle etc.

Yeah, it's supposed to.....according to the owners. It's not the worst but you can see what he's trying to copy and i'm not sure if it's worse that he's tried to ruin it completely and only managed a bit or that there may be hope for it.

The lowest mx5 I've been in was also the most comfortable. It was on Gaz Golds and was great around Edinburgh. Only problem was speedbumps which it would beach on... But my 5 did that and it was 20mm higher.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
