I can't remember who it was but they were telling me at the weekend that Costco have some pretty astonishing deals on premium brand tyres at the moment, think Michelin was mentioned smile

I can't confirm this at the moment as i don't have a membership so rather than pay £20/25 to find out that it's not true are there any folks on here who are members who could have a look ? smile

........ and what are peoples thoughts on Costco deals generally ? I'm self employed so would qualify for a trade account, but if i had a trade account would i be able to purchase stuff at trade rates that didn't relate to my trade. ie tyres....as i'm not a tyre fitter tongue out

As self employed you can have a trade account.
You can buy anything they sell, at their listed prices.
Michelin are indeed stocked at Costco, although on my last trip I did see some other brand too.

Every so often, they have quite a discount on Michelin tyres when 4 are bought/fitted together.

Check with local independents too, as they can sometimes give the same/better price, without needing to buy 4 at a time.

I have also heard that they may fill the tyres with Nitrogen ... Cannot verify.

Patricularly well priced ?......... or just comparable to other online tyre retailers frown

If a Costco membership card is just going to become further wallet clutter then i'll pass........ but on the other hand i do love a good deal if there is one to be had biggrin

EDIT: Just seen your edit wink

Probably depends on the tyre sizes in question.
20% off not such an expensive tyre might not make a big enough difference.
20% off 19" rubber can add up to more than Costco membership.

Last time I asked Costco to quote, their prices were stupidly high. This was for 19" rubber for a Land Rover.

Basically, if your car has the same range of sizes they supply and you want the models/brands they've got in stock, they'll do you a good deal. Otherwise almost anywhere else is cheaper.

Google works for search just add site: PistonHeads as a prefix
Eg site: PistonHeads Costco http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=site:+pistonheads...
(sorry if this means you spend loads of money)

yes you can buy whatever they sell even if it is not for your trade. Watch out because the headline price is before VAT with VAT price in small print on the price tag. You won't be able to claim back the VAT unless it is for business purposes.

They regularly (and currently) have 20-25% off offers.

I bought my Michelin Pilot Supersports there last year and saved £200 off the £1000 total (including VAT). The only other place that could come close was Camskill, but then I'd have had to find/pay some local tyre place £10/corner to fit them.

That was my thinking, after all, even a web designer needs to go and see his clients, doctor go to his patients etc.
