......and I'm absolutely gutted. I'm 37 years old and its a bloody fish and I'm gutted.

He was a big old black moorfish, had him about 5 years but I don't think he was in his first flush of youth when I got him.

Started bottom sitting a week ago, did everything my local fish place told me to, thought he'd gone last Thursday but he perked back up again almost back to normal. Came home from work tonight and clearly he hadnt improved as much as it first appeared.

RIP Murray.

Bloody fish!

Sorry to hear that man.

I lost a puffer fish last week, only had him 6 months, but you get so attached to the damn things. (financially too, but thats another story.)

RIP Megatron.

How does a grown man become so attached to a slimy black blob with boggly eyes.

Sorry to hear about your fish. Has made me a bit emotional too. I had a couple of Giant Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches as pets once. I was gutted when the male, Bernard died. He was lovely. Bloody stupid Cockroach.

Yes we lost our Porky Puffer after 10 years a short while ago. I was gutted.

They are still your pets, I see no problem with feeling upset about losing them.

Nowt wrong with being upset by losing a fish. They may not greet you at the door, sit on your lap or follow you round the garden like a cat or dog but they still become part of the family. They have character and do the little things like nibble fingers or 'kiss' the glass that make them unique and not just a fish. Most fish owners I know spend more time feeding/cleaning/medicating/ balancing/talking to the fish than spend time with wives or girlfriends!

10 years?! That's a pretty good innings for a puffer!

OP you got a pic of Murray? Might be good to share? Here's little Megatron:

The trouble with naming pets in pairs is that you can end up with Salt and Squeak or Tigger and Hobbes.

Sadly no pictures. Can't believe how down about it I am. He used to come to the top corner of his tank every day when I got in from work, yeah yeah I know he only wanted food but it was a BIT like being greeted by a loyal dog, just a very ugly, slimy, wet dog! Oh well, time to begin his journey to the other side in his McDonalds quarter pounder with cheese carton. He was a bit too big to flush, so I guess its wheelie bin for one to fishy heaven. Unless a bin dipping tramp finds him first.

Top tip: Cut him to pieces, then he'll flush easily smile (Had to do that with a 30cm long plecko)

Awe I couldn't. I even put tissue in the maccy D's carton to lie him on. Could never chop him up.

Well I thought so. Took me ages to find a really nice carton that wasn't too mouldy or covered in cat piss.
