Hi All
Our beloved cat of 16 years has decided to start relieving herself in the hallway on the carpet despite having used a litter tray and the garden all of her life. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to stop this and if there is a way, will she look for other places in the house?
Any suggestions much appreciated....

Firstly, pop her down the vets in the morning. Sometimes it can be a sign of cystitis/infection/kidney problems so best to get her checked. It can be a stress thing, has anything changed in her local area? New cats about is a common cause.

Ways of stopping it can include bicarb and white vinegar, silver foil, bowl of food by where its occuring.

I didn't mean together! Although it could be interesting.. smile I was putting forward the suggestions for the OP to investigate further but the usual method is bicarb between carpet/underlay/floor to absorb moisture/smell, vacuum and repeat til job done, and a 50/50 mix of white vinegar and water sprayed lightly over area discourages cats returning to the area.

As above take her to the vets. My cat only ever went anywhere other than the litter tray when she was ill...

yes Trip to Vet

The only thing I found that removed the smell was a product from the Vet as well (and I tried EVERYTHING!) - Odour Eliminator
