So I was looking at finance for a second and I thought it looked alright.

£199 each month.

It then says you can pay it in either 24 months or 60 months,

( Also says free insurance but I'm young so I doubt il get it!)

I refined my search and it came up £250 every month for 4 years ! Took me at over 12k?

Surely then finance is a rip off because in 4 years the car won't be worth 12k and also I don't fancy paying 12k for a 1.2i that is basically a stock corsa with black wheels because when I'm 21 I will be looking to be in a Subaru or something decent not a poxy 1.2. I put it down to 24 months paying finance and it's now £513 a month ? Anyone who took these deals must be mad ??

Oh and did I mention the deposit is £2325?

Now on to the Corsa VXR Nurburgring.

At 48 months it's £390. It has a 1.6i 16v turbo so I suppose it will be pretty nippy. Well it should be!

£22,405.00. I suppose I wouldn't mind having that for 4 years as it is fast and nice looking but say I wanted it for 2 years it would be £780 a month. £3000 deposit.

Would you pay £22,405.00 for a corsa?

Is the whole finance market a rip off ?

'Corsa finance' is about as un PH as you can get I'm afraid.

The advice I would expect is buy a better car that you can afford and won't depreciate like a stone.

In 2004 I bought a brand new Corsa 1.2 SXI for £8200 with metallic paint. Could have had "Flame Pink" for £7800. That was with free insurance too.

Try buying a Corsa brand new for £7800 now.

At 18 you almost certainly will be cash poor, opportunity rich. Making yourself poorer over a car and reducing the opportunities you have is mental

If its the same offer I saw in the paper, the insurance is something along the lines of.....

They cover the full amount for drivers aged 22+
The first £1000 for drivers ages 19 - 22

Just buy a used Corsa for the same price as the deposit on a financed one. This one even has warranty.

If you hope to be in an Impreza in a few years, don't spend nearly-new Impreza money on a Corsa now!

Don't forget to budget for the clunge magnet sticker and the red DLR lights.

Seriously though, you're better saving what you would pay in 6 months or a year for the finance on the corsa and see what you get for your money at that stage. In your circumstance, shop around for insurance on cars first rather than get the car and struggle with insurance.

I bought a new Corsa when I was 17... It was September 2000, and I bought one of the last of the Corsa 'B', the new model was already in the showroom.

£7,280 for a Corsa 1.2 16v Club, with pearlescent polar sea blue paint, and aircon in lieu of sunroof. Oh, and 1 years free insurance thrown in - yes, even for 17 year olds.

Factor in the insurance was worth £1,500 to me, the car effectively cost under six grand. Three and half years later, it was sold for circa £4k.

Cheap motoring.

OP, I suggest you ask the government for a refund on your education becasuse this is either wind up or you're not the sharpest tool in the box. You were offered low rate finance deal on a car but its the finance you think is a rip off and not the car itself? Depreciation seems to be a new concept to you too.

No, I wouldn't pay £22k for a Corsa, but £22k is the list price so it's a bit harsh to call the finance deal a rip-off as it's pretty much free (excluding negotiations before anyone starts).

Forget a Corsa, what you want is a Viper. On finance.
