Can anyone help me with this? Trying to find out where this Toyota engine comes from.
It looks new, but bunging 2500 Turbo VVTi into Google doesn't bring up anything sold currently. Looks like a straight six? Maybe the one from the Supra, but surely that's not made any more?
I'll let you guess what it's been implanted into. Get it right and I'll be VERY impressed!

Definitely looks like a 1JZ-GTE, doesn't it? Thanks for that. I guess it's a recon engine then rather than a new one.

Single or twin-turbo?

As for the car, whoever said Trabant is in the right sort of region. Ish.

edit: could be single turbo if its the later BEAMS version.

First thought was a Ford Anglia, or maybe a Sunbeam Alpine?

Anglia had a forward opening bonnet and the Sunbeam was built on a chassis whereas the top suspension mounts in the OP's pic suggest a monocoque.

If someone was close-ish with "Trabant" I'm thinking some kind of Eastern Bloc manufacturer? An original Skoda Octavia maybe?

GAZ Volga 21. So from 75bhp to around 280. Hope there are some attendant improvements. (the car below isn't the one with the swap - a Wiki shot only)
