I've got RAC and they tried a similar stunt, I found the same cover at half price with Green Flag, I rang them to cancel and they match Green Flag without a second thought.

I've just had a look at their website. If I read it correctly, you have to pay for the repair/recovery etc and then claim it back from them.

Not quite what I expected.

We have autoaid cover. Essentially, it's an insurance policy. Had to use it once, they had someone out within 30 minutes, fixed at roadside and paid by card. Claimed it back no issue. This is my wife's policy, I'm covered purely by being married to her, and it's any car so if you are travelling with someone who breaks down and doesn't have cover, you can use auto aid

I was a bit sceptical, but it's half the price of aa etc for the same level of service. No brainer for me.

Halifax Ultimate Reward account. Costs you £10 a month if you pay in over £1000 per month (£15 if you don't), and for that you get AA breakdown cover AND Homestart, worldwide family travel cover, card protection, mobile phone cover, and home emergency cover. Bargain!

But that is £180 per year (yes, I know its £10pcm if you pay in £1000, but since they give you £5 if you don't have the cover, its really £15 per month). If you have similar spending habits to me, your phone is worthless and you pay very little for travel cover anyway. Not for everyone, but great for some.

I imagine that's why it's so cheap. It's not breakdown cover so much as breakdown insurance.

Yeah, there definitely was just another moody arse on the phone...that's probably what the guy said to his work mate as he picks up the next call. I do exactly the same thing when speaking to Elephant come renewal, I'm polite, talkative and they price match saving me money, no rudeness, no problems.

Not sure why this hasn't gained traction on Hotukdeals.
http://www.hotukdeals.com/deals/green-flag-1-3-off...
But Green Flag have 3rd off policies until August. I had the same BS with the AA today.
So cancelled and will be going with GF in a couple of months
