Get in there!...at least until next budget...

I know that the slight dip in prices recently will slowly become a 3p increase but does this mean that the government is listening?

More likely a seeded 'good news' story to distract the populace from the tax witch hunt for which Cameron is squarely in the crosshairs.

Well it's nice to have some good news for once, even if it is a postponement rather than a cancellation.

In fariness to Osborne since May 2010 he has raised fuel duty from 57.19p to 57.95p per litre.

Between 2008 and 2010 Darling raised it from 50.35p to 57.19p.

That doesn't include VAT rises but it is still quite a different approach.

Duty goes up 1p -> >whatisthiscountrycomingtoitslikelivinginadictatorship<

Rise in duty is postponed -> >whatisthiscountrycomingtolastweekapolishmanstolemywheeliebinmyMPshallhearaboutthis<

In other words, people will complain either way. There are far more important things to worry about.

I think we should all thank Mr Jimmy Carr for his generous, if belated income tax contributions as I suspect he is paying for this !

Good news.

3p a litre isn't much in the big scheme of things but it all adds up.

I remember everyone going bananas when it hit £1.20 - now we are 'happy' its staying at £1.30.

anyone cleverer than me tracked the increase of fuel cost to the cost of living?

i know it sounds really old git-ish but i cant believe how much stuff like milk and beans are now!

Just like Devil said above, it doesn't matter in the bigger picture but the daily mail types will complain no matter which way it goes. smile

I have a wife so I have no idea about the price of food but I've noticed beer and sweets cost a lot more than they used to - then again so do houses...

about the only thing that hasn't risen exponentially are my earnings !

Brilliant. The scary and clouded world of the male PHer!

Food is bonkers expensive at the moment, probably because farmers are making more money growing that rape-seed stuff rather than actual edible crop.
