right now I know you generaly need amps etc for a proper 5.1 set up, but I am just thinking of using this for my bedroom with a 40" set up:

http://www.very.co.uk/lg-ht306sf-dvd-home-theatre-...

basicly I have a £50 gift card for Very to use and had it for over a year now! they have another code floating around for another £15 off so would make this £35 for me BUT can anyone tell me if this will just give surround sound for DVD's or can I hook it into the TV so anything thats played through the TV is 5.1 as well? I really have no clue when it comes to home cinema!

I know the quality wont be great but for a bedroom I dont want to be spending hundreds on a system!

Thanks

Jon

Put it this way - you're not going to get any better for £35 biggrin

well yeh I know but at the same time I very rarely watch DVD's tend to be through Tivo or my PC which is connected through HDMI so would rather not waste my gift card on something which isnt going to be much use to me biggrin

That is a Dolby Digital Pro-Logic II system. So it's not a 'proper' discrete 6 channel surround sound system like you would get on a DTS system.
You could connect the audio out from the TV to this and listen to the TV in Pro-Logic, which will certainly be better than the standard internal TV speakers.
Not a bad system for £35 I suppose.

I've got a similar LG system in my bedroom.

Punches well above its weight for the price.

Think I paid about £150.

Not bad for 5 speakers, a sub and blueray player.

Even comes with ethernet/internet connectivity and a optical out so you can listen to 'regular' TV through the system.

Overall, very impressed for the cost.
