Now I've read a few threads on here (probably mostly in the 'Porsche' forum as it goes) that have 'knocked' some Autoglass fitters in the past...things like having wind noises and leaks after fitting.
I'm also sure that by now, we all hate the sound of 'Gavin's' voice on the radio telling us not to ignore chips - otherwise 'crack!' He is an annoying Brummie, I will admit
However.
I've used Autoglass 4 times now in the last few years, for both stone chip repairs, and 3 completely new screens. In fact, I've just booked them again today to replace another cracked screen for me next week (hence the thread).
Now, I've done business with all sorts of companies over the years - both privately and in business - in fact when I started my own small business in 2007, I've had to deal with a myriad of companies and suppliers (plus customers both good and bad)...and there are very few companies that I would truly say are brilliant, client-centric, and really seem to give a s
t about giving proper service to me, with value for money.
And there are also a handful that I have proper, high-blood pressure inducing seething rage and hate for, and wouldn't ever use again, even if they were the last supplier on the planet...
Anyway I digress - back to Autoglass. In my experience, I have to say that I've never dealt with a more professional, easy to contact and deal with company, that do what they say they will do, every time, with accuracy, precision and care.
They can be contacted and an appointment slot selected and booked (24 hours a Day!) via phone, email, their website, via a smartphone, and now even Facebook apparrently!
I use their website - simplicity itself to navigate, and never had any problems, time-outs or failures.
They contact your insurance company on your behalf and do all that administration - so for me, that's another phone call and bit of hassle that I don't have to deal with...
Someone from their call centre then ALWAYS calls back shortly after to confirm - and then I often change the appointment again (!) which never seems to be a problem, and is all done with good grace, politeness and professionalism, from a UK based English speaking operative.
Then I receive an email notification - with all the relevant information nicely displayed and easy to understand.
On the day, the technician who will do the work then calls me ahead of the appointment - to confirm I am still ok to go ahead, and give me an exact time of his arrival. They have also always come to me, wherever I am with my car at the time. Doesn't matter where you are - home, work, wherever.
Every technician who I've dealt with has been polite, unfailingly professional, and extremely careful with my car. And on two occasions - proper petrolheads that want to talk cars!
They take time to go around the car first, allowing you to point out every bit of damage which gets recorded on a sheet. Ok - this is to cover their arse, but similarly if you do spot some unrecorded damage later - they then can't deny it was caused by them either.
Watching them work, so far the fronts of my cars have been carefully covered with blankets etc. to avoid damage, and the old screens removed carefully, without any heavy-handed or agressive 'Gorilla' type work.
In every case, the repair or new screen has been fitted to my complete satisfaction - with no later leaks, ingress or wind noise. All the trims have been carefully removed and replaced.
Most recently, the trims on one of my cars which cover the lower edge of the screen and the top of the scuttle were already damaged - i.e there were pins missing so they didn't fit nice and flush. The Autoglass bloke, bless him, tried to repair them for me and get them fitting nicely - despite it not really being his job. (He did get them better than before)
So...despite the usual 'Pistonheads disgruntled moaning threads' about bad service - I thought I'd post my thoughts about a company that, for me, has delivered responsive, professional, fast service on all the occasions I've used them.
