Yup, so much for the new phone laws, no tosser round here takes any notice of them at all, I've noticed posh wimmin in big Mercs to be the worst second only to van drivers.

I was walking down the road the other day and saw some posh bint making a call whilst driving past.

I managed to get her attention by making a phone gesture at the side of my head and pointing directly at her and giving her a Paddington Hard Stare.

Just got a mouthfull of abuse in return. Though about putting a size ten foot shaped dent into her door as she went past and then claiming she hit me whilst making a phone call whilst driving her car.

Not sure how it would stand up in court though. Maybe next time if I've got a few mates who can act as witnesses....

It really pisses me off.

I agree to a point.

Just because its the law does not make it morally right or wrong. Look at speeding, do you get really angry when you see someone do 77 on the motorway?

Granted there are some people out there that cannot drive at all and the phone makes it worse. However I still use my mobile when driving and I will continue to do so. However, I only use it when I am on a straight road (motorway) and I always make sure I am in the inside lane keeping good distance away from other traffic and keeping the speed down. I keep the conversation brief and make sure I dont get "dragged" into the conversation. I would not hesitate to drop the phone if something happened.

I do not like the people that use phones on roundabouts and built up areas because it shows a lack of respect for their surroundings and it gets a little dangerous.

Drivers that text while they are driving get everything they deserve IMO. Staring at a small screen while driving is far different from answering a quick call on the motorway. No different from speaking to a passenger.

I think with the availablity of hands free kits and their inexpense....nobody should be still holding the phones up to their ears..

My angel of death this morning was a silver Vectra, and this www.visordown.com/forums/showthread.php?t=169960 is what I did. It may not be approved procedure, but it made me feel better without having to raise my voice once.

This is where I completely disagree with you, the two are poles apart.

A passenger is able to observe the surroundings during the conversation, they notice if you are coming up to something that requires your full attention and will (often sub-consciously) pause whilst they see your attention has moved away from the conversation.

This is something that someone on the end of a phone can never do.
