DBS tips - looking at one this week

Hi folks. I'm planning to view / test drive a 2009 manual DBS later this week and would welcome any guidance on what to look out for. I've never owned an Aston before so other than the obvious stuff when buying a used car i don't know where to start with regards making sure the car is everything that it should be.

It's a large dealer sale but not an AM dealer.

If it's still in warranty get it to a main dealer quick - they will do any bits needed. If not better have a professional check first. Mine has been really reliable with only strange things (like AM band stopped working on the radio).

The only exception to this is that I have had a fuelling issue on both DBS and DB9 before. Sticking valve or something - both done under warranty.

Overall, very reliable cars considering what they can do

I can only speak from a DB9 perspective but I wish my car has the front parking sensors, are they standard on a DBS? I would hope so...

Other than that I've had no probs with mine.

Looks lovely. Only thing I can't tell is whether it has the B&O. Seems to be priced well for this time of year although that may have something to do with the colour which will not be everyones COT. I absolutely love mine and although she has been pretty trouble free I would not own one without an approved warranty. Others will disagree on this point. Looking at your earlier posts did you not want a Volante? Happy testing

looks fantastic....perhaps a little heavy on the price for a non Aston Martin dealership sale.....to be blunt.....the arse has fallen out of DBS's in the past 6 months......if the saleman tells you its priced about right ask him to prove it by showing you his CAP or Glasses guide.......also speak to the Aston dealership who have been looking after the servicing and ask them for its history......make sure it dosn't need a service in a few months time as that will cost you £1200.......good luck

I thought B&O was standard on a DBS. Is that not the case?

Yes I was looking for a volante but mostly because the kids wanted a convertible. Bought the wife a mini convertible so that has been covered and I can now look for the DBS I really want (ie not a volante)

No B&O on that no silver speakers in the foot wells or pop ups at the base of the A pillar. I also thought it was standard on that model year!
Looks more like Stratus White (flat not pearlescent)
Seems like a keen price, it may be out of the Aston 3 year warranty though

Thanks for pointing that out. Probably not interested now. Definitely want B&O.

They are very easy to retrofit, go and see a specialist! Nick Mee's offered to do mine very reasonably, just never got round to it.

I would love a DBS so have been taking a keen interest in CAP prices......as with the majority of 100k+ cars CAP prices are down over 20k in twelve months on 3YO DBS's

B&O should be standard from November 08, so a bit confused.

At the same time, both types of seating became available so it could be either arrangement

I have the B&O system and I previously had a V8V with the premium audio. You don't need the B&O. The pop-up tweeters are neat, but the sound is similar IMO to what the premium audio provides. If I would have spec'ed my current car, I would have skipped the B&O and would have done something else with the money (like put it toward new manifolds and cats!).

Easier if someone else has specced it for you Rex, but I would be reluctant to pay for it in full
