Does anyone know whether the 35DLM8 ignition will need a condenser mounted to the coil - to work properly, and if so how can i check whether mine is still ok???

No is the short answer: probably added for interference suppression. They tend to either work or not: if it was to fail short-circuit the car probably wouldn't start and you'd have fuses popping, smoke, that kind of thing wink
If it stops acting as a capacitor (condenser is the old-fashioned term) then you probably wouldn't notice other than with points ignition.

Thanks, that rules it out as the trouble making thing then, now for the long wait till postman pat gives me my new lucas coil / amplifier and hopefully those will start my wedge, at long last.
