More braking please?

Now that I am more comfortable with driving the Chim, I gave it a good blast yesterday to find that after a few goes heavily on the brakes, they start to fade and give off that horrible pungent smell.
I think I'm very shortly going to need a disc and pad upgrade. Any suggestions, and how much am I looking at?

Looking back at old invoices for my Griff:
- A set of standard pads for the fron are only about 25 quid and about 45 for the back.
- A set of EBC drilled discs for the front are about 150.
Then thesre's various caliper upgrades you can consider along with different discs like, for example green stuff.
It might be worth seeing what difference the cheap option makes before embarking on an expensive brake upgrade.

There's nothing like the smell of hot brakes! I really like it
Not keen on fade though - I suggest you get some fast road pads - lots of choice - and possibly some braided hoses. If you find you're doing this a lot, you could use Dot 5.1 brake fluid (or just change what you have if it hasn't been changed recently.) HTH

Go for 285mm discs with 4 pot calipers on the front, braided hoses all round and fresh fluid (DOT 5.1 ideally) and you will be happy.

I really think the big brake upgrades are all hype. Unless you regularly track your car and are going faster than all the cars around you, the standard brakes are fine. OK, pads and fluid that can cope with more heat than usual are a good idea but beyond that you're just spending money unnecessarily - IMHO.
